Simone Martini

Simone Martini, born ca. 1284 in Siena, Tuscany, was an Italian painter,
Martini was a major figure in early Italian painting and greatly influenced the
International Gothic style, It is thought that Simone was a pupil of  Duccio di
Buoninsegna, Simone's brother-in-law was the artist Lippo Memmi, not much is
known about his life because very little documentation survived about him, One of
his first documented works is the Maestà in the Palazzo Pubblico which he made in
1315, Some of his works include the St Louis of Toulouse Crowning the King in
Naples (1317) And the S. Caterina Polyptych in Pisa (1319), Simone Martini died in
1344 at Avignon
