Lorenzetti Brothers
Pietro Lorenzetti, born ca. 1280 in Siena, Tuscany, was an Italian painter active
between ca. 1306 to 1348, Pietro was the older brother of Ambrogio Lorenzetti,
also a painter, Together they helped bring Naturalism into Sienese art, many of
Pietro's religious works were in churches in Siena, Arezzo, and Assisi, his
masterwork was a fresco in the lower church of Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi
depicating Crucifixion, Depostion from the Cross, and Entombment,
Pietro is believed to have died from Bubonic Plague along with his brother in Siena
in the year 1348.

Ambrogio Lorenzetti, born ca. 1290 in Siena, Tuscany, was an Italian painter
that was active from ca. 1317 to 1348,
Ambrojio's older brother was the painter Pietro Lorenzetti, Ambrogio's first dated
work is a Maddona and Child (1319) painting in the Museo Diocesano, he was in
Florence until 1321, where he returned to Siena for a few years before coming
back to Florence, One of his works, the frescos "Allegory of Good Goverment"
on the the walls of the Hall of the Nine in the Palazzo Pubblico in Siena, is
considered one of the masterworks of the Early Renaissance, Amrogio is
believed to have died from Bubonic Plague on June 9th, 1348.
