Giotto di Bondone, born ca. 1267 near
Florence, Italy was an Italian painter and
architect,
Giotto is considered one of the
first great artists of the Italian
Renaissance, his most famous works are
the Cathedral square campanile (Giotto's
Bell Tower) in Florence, and the frescoes
of Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, Veneto,
Giotto died on January 8th, 1337 and was buried
in the Cathedral of Florence (Santa Maria
del Fiore) at the age of about 70.
